BeeTheBest is a videogame about bees and pollinators.

A local and online multiplayer experience for up to 6 players.

It combines 3 game modes - Skill based competition (Arena), Intelligence based competition (Quiz) and collaborative scenarios (Boss).

The game also includes a Field Journal with illustrations and curated information by biodiversity experts.

It can be played by family and friends, as it is short-paced, with easy to pick mechanics (tutorial included), and lots of replayability.

We have now launched a Kickstarter campaign explaining all the details, so if it picked your interest you can check it out on the attached links.

This is a recreation of the pre-rendered looks from the original game but within a modern game engine (Unity) rendered in real-time 3D.
Effects used to achieve this look:
-Custom phong shading and cube map shader with simplified specular handling
-Seperation of background, shadow and character layers with individual lighting
-Color quantization and dithering
-Render resolution 640x480
-Black level heightening
-Sprite composite shader with alpha cut-offs and custom anti-aliasing

Its a little hard to describe the sound of this album, its like alt/nu metal mixed with prog metal and a little bit of avant-garde, with songs that are both fun and groovy but also odd and mysterious sounding.

This video takes us back over the emergence of computer audio, as used in games. It covers three different eras of computer audio, like the Internal Speaker, FM Synthesis, and PCM Samples.

This is a simulation game where you have to trade, upgrade your business, and grow the system. It features missions, piloting ships big and small, mining, trading, and upgrades. The system evolves over time, NPCs have their own schedules sometimes, and you have to watch out as well for the attacks from big enemy ships, they are like small boss fights.

The game is full of secrets, and exploration is advised if you want to make the most money and understand the background.

The character evolution in Shop Crush

At the beginning, the game had a different tone and was more of an ironic/comic game. Therefore, we wanted the characters to be cartoonish and caricatured. They were supposed to reflect the game mechanics they represented.

This is the first iteration of the game. Character was simple and didn't have any backgroundord shading.

The Second Iteration

I was doing a redesign of the game the other day. The goal was to improve the readability of the game rules, so I changed the appearance of the character, too. Since the character background became wide, I painted them a background myself, with what I had at my disposal.
